Ira was married to Cyntha Bourland in Wolfe City, TX on August 21, 1865.

Funeral Services Held Here for J. W. Sellers
McKinney Man, and native of Collin County, Was 72 years of Age; Funeral Services Largely Attended 1938
Largely attended funeral services for J. W. Sellers, 72 year old McKinney citizen, were conducted Saturday afternoon by Rev. T. E. Milholland, Church of Christ minister at the funeral chapel of the Isaac Crouch Funeral Home. Following the services the remains were taken to Blue Ridge, where the deceased had spent most of his lifetime and interred in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. Sellers who for the past twelve years had lived in McKinney was found dead Thursday afternoon in the Pavilion of the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Blue Ridge. A shot gun lay across his legs, a discharge having taken effect near the heart. Justice of the Peace John Bratcher of Blue Ridge held an inquest and returned a verdict of suicide.
J. W. Sellers was a native of Blue ridge, where he was born June 11, 1866. He was reared and had resided at Blue Ridge until some twelve years ago when he moved to this city, as previously mentioned. He had been associated with the Pruitt Monument Works as salesman and as secretary of the local camp of the Modern Woodmen of America.
He was twice married. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie Cochran Sellers, and the following children: Mrs. Myrtle Vaughn, Mrs. Faye Thompson, Mrs. Grace Vickers, and Durward Sellers, all of Fort Worth; and Mrs. Connie Wilkes of Dallas. He is also survived by five sisters and eight grandchildren.
One son and two sisters preceded Mr. Sellers in death, the son being killed while doing sentry duty in a South Texas military camp during the World War.
