Dr. and Mrs. Marshall Mayes Searcy
Marshall Mayes Searcy, M. C. was born in Dallas, Texas, August 15 1917. He was the son of Henry Clay and Rebecca Senter Searcy. He was educated in the Dallas School system and spent two years in the Edinburgh Junior college (no longer in existence). He graduated from University of Texas School of Pharmacy, graduating first in his class. He then attended University of Texas School of Medicine in Galveston, Texas, graduating in the upper 10% of the class 1943.
Dr. Searcy was commissioned in to the US Navy as Lt J. G. and received his internship at the navy base in Norman, Okla. He went aboard in USS dolphin and served as chief medical officer in the Pacific theater of war. The USS Dolphin was one of the ships that survived the battle Okinawa. Sen. Talmadge of Georgia was commander of the ship.
After his completion of duty with the navy and post graduated work in the V. A. hospital in McKinney, Texas, he began the practice of medicine in McKinney.
Dr. Searcy is a member of the First United Methodist Church, and has served as past chairman of the board. He is a member of the AMA-TMA and Collin County medical assn., serving as past president of the county society and past chief of staff for Collin Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the McKinney Rotary Club.
Dr. Searcy married Evelyn Williamson of Houston, in 1943. To them were born four children: Marsha; Marshall, Jr., Evelyn Susette and Marcus G.
Mrs. Marshall H. Searcy (Nee Evelyn Williamson) was born in Houston, Texas Sep. 15, 1919, the daughter of E. Franklin and Mae Brown Williamson. She was educated in the Houston public schools and received her degree in nursing education from the University of Texas 1943.
Mrs. Searcy is a member of the First United Methodist Church, and has been active in church duties during her lifetime. She is a member of the Owl Club of McKinney and has served as president in 1958-59 and 1968-69. She was selected to serve as editor of the Owl Club's proposed publication, Heritage Homes of McKinney. Mrs. Searcy is on the board of trustees for the Heard-Craig woman's Club of McKinney, Texas.
Mrs. Searcy deems her greatest accomplishment to be rearing and education her four wonderful children.
Marsha (Mrs. Don Harris) was born in Newport, RI on November 7, 1944, educated in McKinney schools, graduated from the University of Texas on the honor roll, and married Don Harrris, an engineer with NASA.
They have two children, Jeffrey and Shannon.
Marshall M. Searcy Jr. graduated from University of Texas (Phi Beta Kappa), and graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin in the upper 10% of his class. He served on the Law review while in law school and received an award for the most outstanding paper on constitutional law. He married the former Miss Ann Urguehart of Houston, also an honor graduate of the University of Texas. They have two children: Marshall M. III and Amy Meredith. Mr. Searcy practices law in Dallas.
Evelyn Susette Search was born in Dallas June 18, 198, and attended University of Texas in Austin. She married William g. Hall, an graduate of the University of Texas whose disciplines are in accounting. They have no children. Mr. and Mrss. Hall live in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Marcus G. Searcy was born in McKinney, Texas July 17, 1951. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington, then transferred to the University of Texas School of Pharmacy with intentions of following in his father footsteps and becoming a physician. Marcus was on the Deans List with the designation of highest honors. On December 17, 1972 Marcus died in an accidental death. At the time of his death, he had a scholastic average of 98 with hopes of a 100 percent. Marcus wan interred at Hillcreast Mausoleum in Dallas December 20, 1972. Although it was a December day, four days away from Christmas, the day was as warm as spring and beautifully sunshiney. It was as if God had made this day especially just for Marcus.
