Sam Howard
Retires from White's Store
Pictured above are Odell Savage, supervisor of White's Stores in the Dallas District; Lacy Howard, and Sam Davidson, manager of the local store. Howard, an employee of White's for 13 1/2 years, is shown receiving a trust fund check in the amount of $5,403.87.
Howard is retiring from the company for health reasons, having suffered a severe heart attack over a year ago when he was confined to his home for three months. This year he underwent a throat operation and is unable to speak above a whisper.
Lacy is a native of Collin County, born and reared at Bloomdale. He is the son of Mrs. Sally Howard and the late George Howard. He has lived in McKinney since 1931 and for twelve years was with Hamilton-Patterson Motor company, except for 32 months which he spent in the U. S. Navy during World War 2. He was assigned to an ammunition ship while on duty.
He started to work for White's in McKinney in the service department and through the years advance to salesman being in the appliance department when he retired. He has rendered valuable service to the store and its patrons who regret that he must resign. He has the best wishes of a host of friends in his retirement.
Howard and his wife, the former Veneta Beard, are members of King Memorial Baptist Church. They own their home at 209 Franklin Street.
