Sachse
William Sachse was born in Prussia December 16, 1820, reared in a hotel, came to New York, 1840, lived in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Missouri, came to Texas with a group of Peters Colonists January 15, 1845. His neighbors were: Collin McKinney, a fine old gentleman loved by everyone; a Mr. Huffines, who lived west of White Rock, and John Neely Bryan.
Mr. Sachse settled where the community of Sachse now is located. Mr. Sachse died in 1899 and is supposed to be the first person buried in the Sachse Cemetery. His relatives that predeceased him were buried near Murphy in Collin County..
Mr. Sachse's Peters Colony headright straddled the current Dallas-Collin County line. The community was Sachse was named from him. He considered himself a resident of Collin County until the railroad was built across his property.
