Sachse School
Sachse School #89
Murphy, Texas
William Sachse came to Collin County in the 1840s. His 640-acre headright straddled the Collin/Dallas County line south of present-day Murphy. He built his house on the Collin County portion of his property. He and his wife had numerous children.
In the 1850s Sachse built a school on a hill top east of the family home There were 39 students in the school in 1890. District #89 was not included on any list of Collin County schools after that.
When the Gulf Colorado Santa Fe railroad came through the area in the 1886, Sachse donated land for a station and the town of Sachse was formed along the railroad tracks.
In 1948 the Collin County residents of the Sachse School District petitioned to be removed from the Sachse School District and to become part of the Wylie School District. The petition was accepted and approved.
The Sachse attendance area is all in Dallas County now and is part of the Garland School District.
