Rev. and Mrs. Earl J. Rogers
It was in the month of June 1936 that Rev. and Mrs. Earl J. Rogers and their two children Robert and Evelyn, came to reside in McKinney. Rev. Rogers had been called to pastor the Full Gospel Tabernacle which had been erected one year before after a great revival conducted by the late Albert Ott of Dallas.
In looking back over these past twenty-five years of ministry to the good people of McKinney, Bro. Rogers said that God had given them the most wonderful people anywhere to pastor. While many of the charter members have already gone to their reward, it is inspiring to realize that there are many of the original group still attending church and worshiping God in the Church.
In 1949 the old tabernacle which had served the people for twelve years was torn down and a modern beautiful frame church building was erected with Rev. Albert Ott preaching the dedicatory message to a packed house on a Sunday afternoon.
Then, in 1957 a Sunday School annex was added to make the church facilities adequate for a growing congregation.
The Rogers have three children. David Lee having been born in McKinney and is now attending Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie where he is studying for the ministry. Robert Earl is manger of the Baker Shoe Store in Syracuse, N. Y. and Evelyn is now Mrs. Nick Darland and she and her family reside north of town on Telephone Road.

A living heart is stilled;
A vacant place within our home
That never can be filled.
