In 1853, Christopher Riffe came to Collin County. In 1854 his daughter went to school about 1 mile west of present-day Anna and east of Mantua. Anna did not exist at that time. Miss Lucy Nightengale taught in a residence made box fashioned. Joseph Bennett was a teacher in 1880. It was a subscription school.
Some of the students were Joe and Jane Staler, Patsy Portman and Bettie Riffe. In 1880 the school fund had $121.21.
This school is not included on the school lists after 1880.
