Another Pleasant Valley area was located southeast of Farmersville.
In 1890 N. W. Staats and his wife Henrietta gave 2 acres of land for a school. It was located on the south end of the Nelson Staats (Steats) survey.
After 1900 the Pleasant Valley School District was #6, also known as Merit. Merit school is not included on the list of county schools in 1880. In 1890 Meritt [sic] School had 62 students. The teacher at Pleasant Valley #6 [sic] in 1901 was G. R. Tucker and E. Longley was teacher in 1905.
In 1912 the Liberty School consolidated with the Pleasant Valley School to form the New Liberty School district #6. New Liberty school was located four miles north of Farmersville and was the first and only consolidated district in the county at that time. The two school districts consolidated for a better two-teacher school and to secure a more thorough faculty. Patrons, pupils and the general public of the two communities were greatly pleased with the new educational institution. It was one of the, if not the best, rural school buildings in the county. Miss Maude Jones of McKinney was the efficient principal, while Miss Ruby Rike was her capable assistant.
