D. N. Pharr and his wife Margaret Gallegher Pharr, and five children came to the Lucas area from Mississippi in 1879. They were the parents of four sons and two daughters: Carey, Dallas, Ellis, Lennie, Cora and Lester. The latter was born in Lucas.
Carey married Dean Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Cook of Lucas. Ellis married Mattie Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bet Anderson of Lucas.
Lester married Clara Spears, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Spears of Lucas.
Lennie married Joe Lee Cook and Cora married Charley Cook both sons of Mr. and Mrs. Bet Cook of Lucas area.
Carey, Dallas and Ellis Pharr lived in Lucas the remainder of their lives. Mr. and Mrs. Carey Pharr were the parents of two sons and a daughter: Norman Pharr married Alice Russell of Clear Lake. Willard Pharr married Cristine Coffey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Coffey of Lucas and Will V. Pharr married Osborn Blackmon of Houston.
Norman Pharr and his mother are the only member of the family still in Lucas. He is farming the land that belonged to his great grandfather, Johnathon H. Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Pharr are the parents of two daughters and a son: Norma Ann married Kenneth Lewis of Lucas, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Lewis. Carey Beth Pharr married Johnny McQueary of McKinney and Willie Pharr married Darla Looper and he and his family live in Cleburne, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Pharr were the parents of two daughters: Jessie and Clodia Mae. Jessie married Edward Gunter of this area and they have a son, James Ellis Gunter. Clodia Mae married Randy Pace of Dallas.
