The community of Pedigo was located in the extreme southeastern corner of Collin County. It had a church and a school. A. C. Pedigo was the editor of the Royse City News in 1900. Pedigo in Collin County is part of Royse City today.
Pedigo School was school district #129 and started around 1890. R. C. Dycus was the teacher in 1901. Mr. J. C. Barton taught for a number of years. The school building was “overhauled” in the summer of 1909.
In 1891 the Pedigo School had 35 students; 55 in 1899; 44 in 1900; 53 in 1909; 58 in 1912; and 42 students in 1925. There is no information about the school after 1925.
The Lavon Sluggers and the Pedigo Giants competed in a school baseball game in 1913 in which the Sluggers beat the Giants 17-13.
The Collin County School Superintendent W. S. Smith said this about the Pedigo School in 1918: “The Pedigo school had been made new during the summer. They are meeting the requirements for State aid. This community has made a great step forward educationally during the last year. They have around 35 and are doing some good work. Miss Inez Murphree, and Miss Pearl Stout are teaching this school and seem to be working hard to give them a good school”.
