Emily McConnell was a daughter of O. H. McConnell and Effie Pearce. Effie Pearce was a daughter of Hiram and Emily Pearce. Emily Pearce was Emily Peters, b. 1846, d. 1895. Hiram Pearce was b. 1837 and d. 1895. They are both buried in Rowlett Creek Cemetery. The family Bible says that Emily Peters was the daughter of William and Sara Peters but no dates. O. H. McConnell and Effie Pearce were married in 1900.
There is a story published in the Dallas Morning News Mar 1, 1941, showing Mr. O. H. McConnell with the family Bible and a picture of William S. Peters. Mr. Seymour Connor in the Peters Colony of Texas says that all of the children of William S. Peters were born in England and that the family migrated to the U. S. in 1820. This leads you to believe that Emily Peters Pearce could not have been his daughter.
Hiram Pearce writes in a diary in 1879 that J. Peters went to McKinney Jan. 23, 1879 to pay interest on land. Also he mentions the names of Tom Crabtree, G. ONeals, Rice, Tidwell, Armstrong, R. Butler, Dr. C Hyle, Webb, Stratton, Garets and Wells. He notes that he hauled lumber from Dallas in the summer to build a school and that the boys started to school on Nov. 17, 1879 at Prairie View School in Plano.
