Maggie Owens Has 93rd Birthday Today
Mrs. Maggie Owens, 303 McMakin Parkway in McKinney, is celebrating her 93rd birthday today at her home.
Mrs. Owens who has been a resident of Collin County for the past 39 years, was born in Robertson County April 24, 1880. Her husband, Joe Miller Owens, is deceased.
She is the mother of five children, Ernest Lee Owens of Arlington; Lizzie Ray Tucker of McKinney, Marvin Owens of McKinney; Ross Owens of McKinney; and Clifford Floyd Owens of McKinney. One daughter, Mrs. Roy Chapman died in 1950.
She has eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several great, great grandchildren.
She has two sisters and one brother living, Loma Brown of Abilene, Sam Bankston and Jewel Dunigan, both of Merkel. She also has two cousins, Tom Bankston and Floyd Bankston, both of Tyler. McKinney Courier-Gazette, April 2, 1976

Mrs. Sallie Jane Eastham Owens, aged 74, died suddenly at her home, 709 East Standifer Street, at 2:15 p.m. Monday following a heart attack. Mrs. Owens, a native of Kentucky had resided in McKinney and Collin County the past 37 years. She was born January 20, 1872.
Surviving the deceased are four sons, Marvin Owens of Seattle, Wash.; Melvin Owens of this city; Ed Owens of Sherman and Joe Owens of McKinney; Mrs. Ida McLain of this city; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Massie Funeral Home, with interment following in Pecan grave Cemetery. Rev. Edwin Keith, pastor of the South Wilcox Methodist Church of which Mrs. Owens was a member, will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ernest Dowdy, Sam Majors, Bruce Allen, Vester Odle, J. B. Tucker and Bud Gavin.
