This area was once known as the White's Grove Community. Grafton Williams gave land for a church and cemetery in 1848. Mt. Olive Baptist Church was adjacent to the cemetery. There was also a Methodist church. The cemetery was called Williams Cemetery. Today the cemetery is located west of present-day South Hardin Boulevard at the end of Quail Hollow. (Misspelled street sign has 3 o's).
The Mount Olive school was housed in a log cabin with a dirt floor, no windows, and a mud chimney, which was not as high as the house. A Mr. Phillips taught there in 1855.
