The Honey Creek School District was located east of present-day Preston Road along Honey Creek and the Grayson County line. It served the people in the Maple community on both sides of the county line. It was started about 1893 and lasted 10 years.
The 1892 list of county school districts ended at District #132 and this district is #133. The McWhirter and Honey Creek Sunday schools gave a picnic at Honey Creek school house, Saturday June 26, 1896.
In 1899 Honey Creek School #133 had 42 students. Miss Belle Smith was the teacher. W. E. Kight was a trustee, who lived in Maple. There were Grayson County transfers. The school had 26 students in 1900. In 1901 the teacher was Eliza Robinson for 26 students. The school year went from December to May. There is no information on the district after 1904.
