In 1877 Dr. Benjamin F. Grounds deeded 2.5 acres of land for a burial ground, a house of worship and a school. The land was located about 5 miles north of present-day Blue Ridge. The Grounds community predated Blue Ridge. It was named for Dr. Grounds. The Cedar Springs-Bonham Road went through the area.
A date of 1882 is given for a deed for the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The church was part of the Pilot Grove Circuit and Terrell District of Methodist churches.
The Grounds School #24 was included on a list of Collin County schools in 1880. However, Grounds was said to have no school and no school fund. In 1890 Grounds School #24 had 12 students and 47 students in 1899 and 53 in 1900. District #24 is skipped after that.
Rev. Francis held a series of services at Grounds school house in May of 1904.
Claude Glass was the teacher at Grounds school house in 1905.
In March of 1907 several young people from Moreland attended the exhibition given by the Grounds school.
A. G. Jetton was foreman of the Burgess and Grounds school house road, Anna, Route 1, in 1908.
