Fairfield School near Celina was actually located in Denton County. There was another Fairfield School in McKinney.
Fairfield School was located approximately four (4) miles west of Celina at 8856 Fairfield Road in the edge of Denton County. The first school consisted of two rooms; each with its own door and a porch across the front of the building. The building faced south. Across the north side of the building were large windows for light. This building burned and a new building much like the first was built. A large concrete cellar was on the property and was used by everyone during storms. This cellar remains on the property today. There was no indoor plumbing. Drinking water was pumped into a trough with spigots using a pump jack. Some of the teachers were Miss Vera Saling, Miss Gunter, Mrs. McKnight, Mrs. Mary Jo Bunch, Miss Imogene Bush, Mrs. Jimmie Loraine Klepper, Mrs. Varina Putman and Miss Jimmie Milligan. Fairfield School consolidated with the Celina School District in approximately 1942.
