Charles Lewis Smith
Charles Lewis Smith came to Collin County from Barren County, Kentucky in 1852. He settled between Frisco and Prosper near Rock Hill, was a landowner, rancher, Mason, and an early president of the Prosper State Bank. He was known as "Uncle Charlie" Smith by most residents. He died in Denton in 1914 in the home of his son, Edgar Hawkins Smith. He served in the Civil War, enlisting as a private in Decatur on January 1, 1864, in company B, Second Battalion, Kentucky Regiment commanded by Capt. Dortch.
