Bosbie was a freedman’s community that was located east of Weston. It had a cemetery and a school. The name is spell Bosby and Bosbie. It is sometimes confused with Bowlby, depending on the handwriting.
Perry Melton Mugg started the Bosby School for the education of the Black children in the area. The school was included on a County Superintendent’s office list of Collin County schools.
In 1899 L. J. Grant taught in March and April. R. S. Mitchell taught 12 students in February – March of 1901. In 1905 A. B. Tucker, Joe Huey, Ed Frager and Sam Rhyne were the trustees. F. M. Conley taught 19 students. H. J. Coffee taught August – September of 1907 for 18 students. Artesia Young taught from November – January to 1909-10. As early as 1901 this school was called Weston Colored.
