Prather
Rev. L. J. A. Prather died Thursday at his home near Parker. He was 80 years of age, and a Cumberland Presbyterian minister. He came from Arkansas about six years ago and lived with his widowed daughter.
He was buried Friday at Murphy cemetery between Murphy and Parker. Rev. W. P. Cloyd of this city who was an acquaintance of his went down to conduct the funeral services. Democrat September 25, 1902 , p. 6

Sad Death This Morning of Mrs. Minnie Lane Prather.

The death of Mrs. Minnie Lane Prather took place at 1:30 Saturday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Lane, on North Wesley Street, after an illness of about ten days.
The deceased was a young lady of a lovable character and was popular with all who knew her, and her untimely end will cause general sorrow.
Mrs. Prather was born Feb. 21, 1883, and with the exception of her earlier years, she was reared in Greenville. She was the youngest daughter of the family and was the pet of the family.
She was married to Dr. A. C. Prather, June 5, 1904, and they made their home at Tidwell, where the doctor is a practicing physician. Besides her parents the deceased leaves her husband and little son, by a former marriage, one brother, Bennie and two sisters, Mrs. Wright Elliott and Mrs. Jack Bledsoe.
Mrs. Prather was a consistent member of the Christian church, and the funeral services will be held in the Central Christian church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon.
The whole city will sympathize with the family in this bereavement.
Mrs. Prather was reared in McKinney and has numerous relatives living near her, and many friends who will regret to hear of her death. She was a granddaughter of M. W. Wilmeth who resides four miles southwest of McKinney. Democrat November 9, 1905
